Richard M. Springer

Richard Michael “Rick” Springer, 60 of Sebring passed away at Alliance Community Hospital on Friday, August 5, 2016.  Rick was born on May 28, 1956 in Alliance to Donald & Norma (Taylor) Springer.  He was a graduate of Sebring High School and was the owner/operator of Sebring Tire/Springer’s Towing.  A lifelong area resident, he attended Pine Lake Christian Church, was a member of the Sebring Lions Club, Sebring Masonic Lodge, Alliance Shrine, Tadmor Shrine, Royal Order Court Jesters, served as the President of the Transportation Board and was a member of the Alliance Go-Jo’s.  Rick was a member of the Sebring Fire Department for 35 years, serving as Assistant Chief for 10 years and was a member of the Mahoning County Fire Chief’s Association.  He enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years Laurie S. (Abney) Springer whom he married in 1979; his mother Norma Springer of Sebring; two sons, Michael (Tracy) Springer and Matthew (Natalie) Springer both of Sebring; four grandchildren Evan, Karli, Jack and Luke.  He is also survived by two brothers D. James “Jimmy” Springer of Sebring and Tim “Charlie” (Terri) Springer of Charlotte, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his father Donald and brother Terry.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM at Pine Lake Christian Church on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 with Pastor Paul Freer officiating.  Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. A public masonic service will be held at 5:30 PM that evening.  Friends may also call the hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Rick’s honor to Alliance Transportation Unit c/o Gene Barber 11470 Homestead Ave NE Alliance, OH 44601.
