William Owen Obituary

William Parry Owen, Jr. got his wings on January 29, 2021.

Born in Youngstown, Dorothy M. (Drummond) and William P. Owen Sr. were blessed with William’s arrival on July 7, 1944.  He is the father of Susan (Daniel) Stauffer of Canton, OH also stepson Joseph Diver (Catherine) of Durham, NC and stepdaughter Sarah (Shawn) Costello of Rittman, OH.  He is the very proud grandfather of Michael and Aleah Stauffer, Claire Costello, and Alexandra and Joshua Grey.  He also leaves behind his soulmate, Kathleen (Carli) whom he married on May 3, 1986.  Before their marriage he told her “she would be on her honeymoon for the rest of her life.”  He made good on that promise. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol J. Myhre of Sun Prairie, WI.

After graduating from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, William became a supervisor at American Greeting Cards in Cleveland, OH.  He continued to paint and draw periodically.  His family always enjoyed the silly faces he painted on Halloween pumpkins.

At the age of 24 he served his country guarding the Czechoslovakia border in Germany during the Vietnam war.

He loved God and his family first and foremost.  He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sebring, OH.  He also enjoyed golf, travel, attending his grand children's sporting events, Thanksgiving dinner with his family (his favorite day of the year), telling jokes, 50’s music, and his tv remote control.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
