Samuel Greenawalt Obituary

Samuel George Greenawalt, 89, of Beloit passed away at Aultman Hospital in Canton on Friday, January 14, 2022. Samuel was born on June 26, 1932 in Beloit, Ohio to the late Benjamin H. and Alice E. (Cracknell) Greenawalt. Sam was a proud alumni of West Branch High School and graduate of Beloit High School and served in the United States Army. Sam was an avid golfer spending many hours at Westville Golf Course, enjoyed bowling and mowing the grass. He enjoyed going to many sporting events that included his grandchildren, as well as various other West Branch and Mount Union events. But most importantly, Sam loved spending time with his family and friends.

Sam is survived by his children Lori (Craig) Hotchkiss of Salem, Linda (Robert) Davis of Beloit, Mike (Lucinda) Greenawalt of Alliance, Kevin (Pam) Greenawalt of North Benton, Tim (Teresa) Greenawalt of Alliance, and Steve (Linda) Greenawalt of Florida. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Bruce Galbreath of Goshen, IN, two sisters-in-law Patty Marty of Salem, Ohio and Ramona Greenawalt of Strongsville, Ohio. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Denny and Darlene Lane and the Patrons of Westville Golf Course; Muckleroy Family, Carson and Phyllis McNeely, Canton VA, Companion Care of Columbiana County and the entire West Branch Community for their love and care they showed to Sam.

Besides his parents Sam was preceded in death by his wife Judy Ann (Galbreath) Greenawalt who passed away on January 6, 2020; in-laws Wilson Lee and Esther LaVerne (Stoller) Galbreath; siblings, Robert Greenawalt, James Greenawalt and Don Greenawalt and a sister Ruth Denny; sisters-in-law Cheryl Galbreath, Edna Greenawalt and Myrt Greenawalt and brother-in-law Homer Marty and Daryl Denny.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Kahler officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, Ohio.
