Richard Hahlen Obituary

Richard L. “Dick” Hahlen, 83, of Alliance passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital. Richard was born on June 27, 1935 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Harold and Grace (Schopfer) Hahlen. He was a graduate of American High School in Chiacgo, IL. Richard retired from Transue and Williams (Alliance Plant) as a Heat Treater and was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a Korean War Veteran and based on the U.S.S. Wisconsin BB64. Richard was a past member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a member of American Legion Post 76. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends he will be remembered for taking many walks around Sebring talking with his neighbors and friends along the way. He was a fan of sports especially the Cleveland Indians and other Cleveland teams; he also liked to cheer for Mt. Union and local High School teams.



Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Ellen (Lockhart) Hahlen whom he married February 4, 1955; a daughter Diane Lynn (Bill) Jackson of Beloit; son Michael Thomas (Pam) Hahlen of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren Nicholas (Joni) and Odessa Jackson, Molly Hahlen two great-grandchildren Ethan and Charles Jackson. He is also survived by many brothers-and-sisters in-law as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents Richard was preceded in death by a brother Tom Hahlen.



A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Radcliff officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday the hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit with Military Honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
