Ray E Early

November 22, 1932 — September 4, 2023

Sebring

Ray E. Early, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023, in Alliance, Ohio. Born on November 22, 1932, in Sebring, Ohio.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Early, who passed away in 1999. He is survived by his long-time companion, Alice Greiner, and his children: Mike (Tammy) Early, Brent (Joanne) Early, Pamela (Phil) Harlan, and Philip (Mary) Early. Ray was a devoted grandfather to Michael (Amanda) Early, Scott (Megan) Early, Jessica Early, Nathan Harlan, Katherine Harlan, Megan (Keenan) Reese, and Matthew (Devan) Early; and a proud great-grandfather to Dylan and Cayden Early. Ray is also survived by his sister-in-law, Teresa Shaw of Campbellford, Ontario, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Flora (Workman) Early, his brothers Russell and Glenn Early, and his nephew Ed.

Ray was a hard-working man, dedicating 11 years of his career to Armors and 31 years to General Motors in Lordstown, where he eventually retired. His work ethic extended beyond his professional life, as he was a United States Navy veteran, serving for four years on the USS Oriskany and Orca. His commitment to service was evident in his dedicated memberships with the Sebring American Legion, Sebring VFW, Canton McKinley 2370 FOE, Salem AmVets Post 45, and 40 & 8.

In addition to his remarkable work history and service, Ray was a founding member of the Sebring Easter Egg Hunt, a testament to his love for community and family. He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Ray loved fishing, camping, and hunting, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. He also enjoyed yard work, taking pride in maintaining a beautiful and welcoming home for his loved ones.

Ray's generous spirit extended to all who knew him. He was a man who gave without expecting anything in return, always putting others before himself. His selflessness was a trait that endeared him to many and will be remembered by all who knew him.
