M. Doug Waggoner Obituary

On the early morning of March 31, 2024, Marvin Douglas "Doug" Waggoner (80), of Alliance, Ohio, passed away at his home with his family close by. Born November 2nd, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to Daisy Mae Peterson (Pryor) and Marvin Edwin Waggoner.

Marvin grew up in Canton, Oh with his seven siblings Charles, Bradley, Rollin, Bob, Sharon, Carolyn, and Kelly. Doug, attended Canton McKinley Senior High School and then went on to serve in the United States Army, spending most of his time in Germany from November 1960 - November 1963. After the Army, he worked at The Timken Company working as a welder and sheet metal specialist, retiring March 31, 1994. May 7, 1966, Doug married his loving wife Karen K. Altenhof, they were married for 57 years. Doug and Karen raised 2 children, Jeff and Ed.

During retirement, He loved nothing more than spending time with his two sons and four grandchildren. He was always there for them, whether he was helping them with a job or at a game cheering them on. He was an avid fisherman, and hunter, a talented carpenter, really enjoyed biking and running.

Sadly, Doug was predeceased by Marvin Waggoner (father), Daisy Peterson (mother), Bob Waggoner (brother), Bradley Waggoner (brother) and John Tedrick (nephew). Doug is survived by his wife Karen K (Altenhof) Waggoner, his two sons Jeff Waggoner and Eddie Waggoner. Four grandchildren Ethan Waggoner, Julie Phillis, Kacee Waggoner and Madelyn Waggoner. Doug is also survived by his two older brothers Charles Waggoner (Annete), Rollin Waggoner (Gabriele), and three younger sisters Carolyn Tedrick, Sharon Mercer (Steve), and Kelly Peterson.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring, 126 West Vermont Ave. At 4:00 PM with Rev. Quint Bryan and Pastor Lynn Moore officiating. A time of visitation will take place the hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
