Joe Rockwell Obituary

Joe Rockwell, 70, of Sebring, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Hanover Healthcare Center in Massillon. Joe was born on May 18, 1949, in Alliance, Ohio to Gale and Florence (Andrews) Rockwell. After graduating in 1967 from Sebring McKinley High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1967 to 1970. He then worked as a machinist at Morgan Engineering and Steel Equipment Specialists, retiring in 2009. Joe was a member of Pine Lake Christian Church in Sebring where he previously served as a Sunday School teacher, and deacon as well as working in the bus ministry. His community involvement included coaching and umpiring for Hot Stove baseball and serving for several years as president of the Sebring Athletic Boosters, and was also a charter member of the Sebring Lions Club. Joe was also very involved in area veterans organizations. These included; American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton, where he served as past District Commander, the VFW, DAV, AMVETS, and 40 and 8. Joe was an avid collector of WWII memorabilia and all things military.

Joe is survived by his wife Sherril (Lepsesty) Rockwell, his son, Brian of Sebring, daughter-in-law Lee and their children; Alexa, Jax and Charlee, his son, Steve of Granville, daughter-in-law, Nicole, and their children, Hannah, Isabella, and Braden, sisters, Darla (Dean) Grindley, and Cindy Rockwell, both of Beloit, brother, Doug Rockwell of Mustang, Oklahoma, brothers-in-law, Mike (Michelle) Lepsesty, of New Baltimore, Don Williams, of Tempe, Arizona, and father-in-law, Alex Lepsesty, of Sebring. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2020, with his memorial service at 3:00 PM at Pine Lake Christian Church in Sebing, with Mike Harshman officiating.
