Beloit

Doris Stryffeler, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, in Salem, Ohio. Born on December 2, 1931, in Beloit, Ohio, she lived a remarkable and fulfilling life of 91 years.

Doris was the cherished daughter of Frederick and Bessie (Wuthrick) Zurbrugg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel Stryffeler, her daughter Donna (Stryffeler) Spencer, and her brothers, Leland and Wayne Zurbrugg. She is survived by her daughter, Avon D. Mehaffey, her son, Larry S. Stryffeler, her brother, Delmar Zurbrugg, and her adored grandchildren, Matt Spencer, Michelle Babcock, Paige Mickey, Jacob Stryffeler, and Brooke Michael and two great grandchildren Alexandria Spencer and Sophie Stryffeler.

Doris was a woman of great strength, kindness, and spirit. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. She was a devoted member of the Bethel United Church of Christ in Beloit, where she found great comfort and community. She had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, often spending her free time watching birds and tending to her garden. Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful flowers and plants that surrounded her home. Doris found peace and tranquility in these simple pleasures, believing that there was no greater joy than being outdoors and taking care of the land and the Family Dairy Farm.

Her children, Avon and Larry, remember her as a loving and supportive mother who always encouraged them to follow their dreams. Her grandchildren remember her as the fun-loving and adventurous grandma who was always ready for a new adventure. Her brother, Delmar, recalls her as a caring and devoted sister. To her friends and the members of the Bethel United Church of Christ, she was a pillar of strength, a ray of sunshine, and a true friend.

A private family burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Friends and family may sign the guest register and send condolences online at www.grfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, Sebring (330) 938-2526.
