Doris was a nurse's aide at the Salem Hospital who always enjoyed helping people. After the death of her daughter, Joy, she lost interest in the hospital and stayed home to take care of her sons. She became involved in Volunteering during those later years. Helping at the First Christian Church in Salem for many years. Also, she became a volunteer at United Local High School. There she did everything from Office work, hall monitor, Cafeteria, wherever she was needed. She even was the person that made the call to inform the parents that their children were not at school.
