Donald L. Blackmon

Donald L. Blackmon, age 71 of Alliance passed away at Alliance Community Hospital on October 27, 2018. Donald was born on June 26, 1947 to the late Robert and M. Christine (Handy) Blackmon in South Boston, VA. After graduating high school he worked for Ferrellgas. Donald had a passion for baseball, he coached many teams and touched many lives during his coaching career. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

Donald is survived by his wife Lori (Christen) Blackmon; children Melissa Blackmon, Todd (Stephanie) Blackmon, Christine Blackmon, D. Gregory Blackmon and Angela Bruce Blackmon; grandchildren Grace and Arielle Blackmon and 12 other grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who he loved dearly; siblings Mary Savage, Wanda Ellsworth and Robert E. Blackmon. Besides his parents Donald was preceded in death by a son Richard Edward.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home. Friends and family will be received the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to go towards funeral expenses.
