Bruce Smith Obituary

Bruce W. Smith, 77, of Dublin, Ohio and formally Sebring passed away on September 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Bruce was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 12, 1944 to Harold D. Smith and Charlotte Jayne Smith (Millner) formally of Sebring. Bruce was a 1962 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School and a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Charlotte Jayne Smith, a son, Todd Smith, and his grandparents William and Helen Millner, all of Sebring. He was the father of three sons, Matthew, Christopher, and Michael Smith. He was incredibly proud of all three boys and loved them fiercely. They truly were his pride and joy. Bruce is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Donahue, his niece, Justine Donahue and his daughter-in-law, Julie Stoddard Smith. Bruce adored his grandchildren Caroline, Nicholas, Sonny, and Remy and loved visiting with them and watching their sporting events and activities.

After college, Bruce worked for General Motors Central Office in Detroit, Michigan, was the past owner of the Courtesy Chevrolet Auto Group and spent his entire career in the automobile sales industry. He was a car enthusiast and loved collecting antique and muscle cars. He spent his retirement years traveling and living in Fort Myers and Bonita Springs, Florida and Palm Springs, California. He loved the warm weather and the beaches of Florida. Bruce was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sebring, Masonic Lodge in Sebring, the Shriners of the Tadmor Temple Shrine in Akron, in the U.S. Army Reserve, and a member of Theta Chi Fraternity Delta Gamma chapter at West Virginia Wesleyan College where he met many of his lifelong friends and his best friend, James Williams. Bruce's first and dearest friends were Bob and Sharon Rouse of Sebring. Bruce loved telling stories about their escapades in high school and their own boys became close friends too.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring with Pastor Marty Radcliff officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:45pm at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. Friends and family will be received two hours prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
