Bethany Lynn Kholos
March 15, 1998 - August 12, 2023 (age 25)
Bethany Kholos, 25, treasured wife, daughter and sister passed away on August 12th, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones. For the last four years, Bethany battled a diagnosis of Stage IV Melanoma with tenacity and bravery. Bethany was a 2016 graduate of Salem High School and later pursued higher education at Kent State University with an associate's degree in Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Technologies. Bethany was an avid music lover who enjoyed playing her clarinet and piano. She also had the voice of an angel that was adored by many through singing at church and participating in school and community musicals. Bethany enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, being outdoors, walking her dogs, and creating art in various forms. For the last year and a half, Bethany and her husband were residents of Washington where they were surrounded by mountains, lakes, trees, and the Pacific coast. All of which sparked Bethany's sense of wonder and adventure.
Those who remain to honor her memory are her husband, Michael Barnes whom she married on August 7th, 2020; father Mark Kholos, mother Cheryl Kholos, brothers Joshua and Jared Kholos, father in law Timothy Barnes, and mother in law Kimberly Barnes. She now enters the company of those who have gone before her. Paternal grandparents Morris and Phyllis Kholos and maternal grandparents Edward T, Sr. and Diane Arkwright.
A funeral service celebrating Bethany's life will be held at Salem First Friends Church on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Peter Fowler officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church. Following the service, she will be taken to her final resting place at Hope Cemetery in a private ceremony surrounded by her family and close friends. A meal will be provided to all who attend the service after the family returns from the graveside burial. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Bethany's honor to the Melanoma Research Foundation P.O. Box 719329 Philadelphia, PA 19171. Her ceremony will be recorded for those who live out of town and will be available to watch the following week. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Salem, 330-337-6363.
