Anthony Cross Obituary

Anthony Wayne Cross Sr. 72 of Salem was Promoted to Glory January 31, 2021 at his home. Tony was born on May 5, 1948 in Leetonia, Ohio the son of the late Alice (Greenawalt) Cross and James F. Cross Sr. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy. Tony was a member of the Salvation Army in Salem, Ohio and loved helping at the Church. He was and avid bowler and enjoyed fishing. He was also a member of the Salvation Army Disaster Service where he participated in helping when he could some of which included 911, and Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. Tony retired as a Truck Driver after 34 years and will be remembered as the person who was always there to help others out.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Margaret A. (Harrington) Cross whom he married on January 14, 1970; four daughters Michelle (Ron) Yoder of Berlin Center, Antwanette (Daniel) Perez of Dalton, GA, Susan (Arturo) Perez Sr. of Chatworth, GA, Paula Marie Conrad of New Castle a son Anthony (Marian) Cross Jr. of Salem, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters; Shirley Thompson of Valdosta, GA, Marlene (Bill) May of Leetonia, Carol (Oral) Bates of Salem, Donna (Randy) Bates of Sebring, Jeanette (Rick) Bates of Salem and two brothers Jim (Vicki) Cross Jr., and Donald (Debbie) Cross both of Salem. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Bridgette R. (Cross) Hapsic a grandson Lonnie O. Wilson Jr. and a sister Geraldine Altimore.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 5:30 PM at the Salem Salvation Army with Lts. Angelica and Gene Spence officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church the hour prior to the service from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army PO Box 703 Salem, OH 44460 with Cross Family in Memo. The funeral service will be live streamed on the funeral home website by following Anthony's Link at the time of the service. Friends and family may also send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.brownfhonline.com.
