Alex Lepsesty Obituary

Alex Lepsesty of Sebring, passed away on April 1, 2020 at the age of 102. He died at Altercare of Hartville where he had been residing for two weeks. He was previously a resident of Copeland Oaks in Sebring.

Alex was born in Alliance to Gust and Freida (Maliqui) Lepsesty on August 24, 1917. After graduating from Alliance High School in 1934, he took over running the family shoeshine and confectionary business in downtown Alliance, due to his father's sudden death.

He served in the US Navy during World War II. After his service, he returned home to help support his extended family.

In 1952, he married Ellen (Champion) Williams and moved to Sebring where they raised their family. They were married for 49 years until her death in 2001.

He worked in several shops in Alliance before he began working for the US Postal Service. He retired as a postal clerk at the main branch of the Alliance Post Office.

Alex was a lifetime member of the VFW, and was especially proud to have been on the National Championship Rifle Drill Team from Alliance VFW Post 1036 in the early 60's. He was the last surviving member.

Alex and his wife, Ellen were both baptized at Pine Lake Christian Church in January of 2000. After his retirement, Alex continued to enjoy bowling and golfing. In recent years, he spent much of his time watching his favorite teams. These included the Indians, Cavs, Browns and Buckeyes. His favorite activity was spending time visiting with his family.

His survivors include his daughter, Sherril Rockwell of Sebring, sons MIke (Michelle) Lepsesty of New Baltimore, and Don Williams of Tempe, Arizona. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. They include grandsons Michael Lepsesty of New Baltimore, Brian (Lee) Rockwell and their children Alexa, Jax and Charlee of Sebring, and Steve (NIcole) Rockwell and their children Hannah, Isabella, and Braden of Granville. His granddaughters include Allison (Jason) Ludwig and their children Trevor and Carter of Beloit, Tara Campo and her children, Sofia and Ava of Hillard, Jessica (Adam) Bobbey and their children Louis and Lillian of Hilliard, and Olivia (Charlie) Smith and their son Ezra of Hilliard.

Besides his wife and parents, Alex was preceded in death by his sister Doris Bennett, his brother William Lepsesty, son Jack Williams and son-in-law Joe Rockwell.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Absolute Hospice and the staff at Altercare of Hartville for the compassionate care provided during his final days.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
