William Greenawalt, born on May 1, 1947, in Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, in Lisbon, Ohio. A graduate of West Branch High School, William devoted much of his life to serving others. He owned his own excavating company and also drove a school bus for West Branch Schools, touching the lives of countless children and their families. In his later years, he had the joy of working alongside his brother at Sweet Meadow Farm Drainage. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. An outdoor enthusiast, William found joy in activities that allowed him to appreciate nature. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or just spending time outdoors, he cherished every moment he could immerse himself in the environment around him. William is survived by his four children: Donna Handy, Gary (Ally) Shell, Brad Martin, and Derrick (Sami) Martin. He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren: Ashlee (Ben) Heverly, Aiden Handy, Emeral Shell, Gary Shell Jr., Delaney Martin, Breanna Martin, Caden Martin, Bralyn Martin and Erika Martin. His legacy will continue through his seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Pam Greenawalt-Westrem, and his brother, Roger (Terri) Greenawalt. William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie L. (Bandy) Greenawalt, who passed away on September 23, 2009, and his parents, Robert and Edna (Mather) Greenawalt. Per his request a private burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio. Donations can be made in his honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
