Scott Brooks

Scott Brooks, a lifelong member of the Salem community passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 69 in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on May 8, 1956, in Salem, Ohio, Scott's early years fostered a deep connection to the town he would serve throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Salem High School in 1974, Scott devoted over 40 years of his career as a mechanical engineer, principally with East Ohio Machinery and SSOE, where he was known for his professionalism and expertise in the field.

Scott was not only defined by his career but also by his vibrant personality. He was known for his interesting sense of humor, which he shared abundantly with friends and family alike, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.

In addition to his professional achievements, Scott was a devoted family man. He was married to Lori (Adams) Brooks on March 4, 1989, and together, they created a loving home filled with the warmth and joy that only family can provide. Scott is survived by his daughters, Jessica (Erik) Ault and Ashley (Andrew) Essick, who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. His six grandchildren-Aubrey, Bailey, Gage, Blakely, Lirah, and Maverick-were particularly dear to him, and spending time with them was one of the most important aspects of his life. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Shogren.

Scott was also a man of many interests and passions. He enjoyed golf and was actively engaged in several local organizations, including the Salem First Methodist Church, The Salem Italian-American Club. His memberships reflected his commitment to community and fellowship.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Hellen (Fisher) Brooks, along with two brothers, Jim and Curt. He is also mourned by the memory of his granddaughter, Tenley Grace.

Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Salem, Ohio, on December 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. The funeral home is located at 510 Jennings Avenue, Salem, OH, 44460. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Scott's honor to the Salem Alumni Association Class of 1974, 330 East State Street, Salem, OH 44460 or the Salem First Methodist Church, 244 South Broadway Ave. Salem, OH 44460.
