Sandra J. Stone

Sandra Jo Stone, 74 of Salem passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. She was born in Salem on October 25, 1949 the daughter of Donald E. and Ruth R. (Reiter) Stone Smith and birth father Robert R. Stone. Sandy was a graduate of Robert Bycroft School in Lisbon. She worked at both the Robert Bycroft and Youngstown Workshops. Sandy was the type of person that you loved to visit no matter your mood, she would always greet you with a smile to make your day brighter. She was selected to participate in the Special Olympics even traveling to Columbus to compete; she received many awards and trophies from her competing. She liked to do many things including; going to local fairs, knitting, crocheting, bead work, puzzles, and enjoyed making music on any instrument she could find especially the organ and accordion. Sandy held a special place in her heart for all God's creatures however dogs and cats were her favorite.

Survivors include her siblings; Robert L. (Barb) Stone, Linda S. Mallow, Mark A. Smith and Crystal L. (Robert) Stratton. She is also survived by her nieces, Aubrey Stone, Kimberly (Ross) Whitehill, Anna (James Jomes) Vyse, Victoria Stratton, Kayley Stratton and great nephews, Quinten Whitehill, Dylan Whitehill and great niece Leyla Whitehill. Sandy enjoyed her special relationship she had with her nieces, great niece and nephews and looked forward to visits from her cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Ruth Smith, her birth father Robert R. Stone and brother in law William Mallow.

A Celebration of Life and Gathering will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 1:00PM at Brown Funeral Home in Salem.
