Sandra Jean Manypenny, formerly of Sebring, Ohio was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin, Ohio. Born on April 18, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, Sandra's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and spirited independence, woven through 87 years of meaningful experiences and enduring relationships.
Sandra was the beloved daughter of the late George H. Strayer and Evelyn (Bailey) Smith. Sandra soon found her professional calling as a secretary at Farmers National Bank. Her diligence, warmth, and professionalism made her a valued member of the team for many years. Sandra's work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on her colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond her professional life, Sandra was a devoted member of the Sebring United Methodist Church. Sandra also took great pride in her involvement with the Legacy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Canton. While a member of the Sebring Chapter she served as Past Matron. Her dedication to the organization's values of charity, truth, and loving-kindness mirrored her own life's principles.
Sandra's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her love for creation and her desire to do things her way. An accomplished seamstress and crocheter, she crafted countless pieces that not only showcased her skills but also her generosity, as she often gifted her creations to loved ones. Her word finds were a testament to her sharp mind and love for puzzles, while her garden and flower beds were a testament to her patience and connection to nature. Sandra's affection for cats was well-known, and she cherished the companionship they provided throughout her life.
Family was at the heart of everything Sandra did. She is survived by her devoted children, Lynda Kestner, Kathy (Ramon) Cruz, Mark D. Manypenny, and Charles B. (Angie) Manypenny. Sandra's legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Michael, Adam, Andrew, Courtney, and Julihannah, and her seven great-grandchildren, Emery, Kaiden, Mayzie, David, Mia, Isaiah, and Jonah who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She also leaves behind her caring siblings, Neysa (David) Woolf and George Strayer, who will miss her deeply.
Sandra's life was one of purpose, joy, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Her strength, wisdom, and wit will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and spirit.
