It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ruth E. Braidic on November 2nd, 2026, at the age of 99, about one month shy of her 100th birthday. Ruth was born December 1st, 1926, in Sebring, Ohio, to Elmer and Harriet Carrier. One of five children, she grew up in Sebring, graduating from Sebring High School in 1944. Ruth married Edward Braidic in 1945 and went on to raise six children, Karen, Ed, Mary, Mike, Lorie, and Joe.
Despite a busy household, Ruth found time to volunteer at St. Ann's Catholic Church, serving as secretary and teaching catechism classes for twenty years. Later, she devoted time to making many a donut and pierogi. Over the years, she also devoted time to the Sebring Historical Society, Sebring Country Club, St. Ann's Women's Club, Alliance Women's Club, and she was a charter member of the Sebring-West Branch Area Foundation, acting as Treasurer for many years.
Once her children were school-aged, Ruth began working for the Village of Sebring and at the Sebring Library. Her first full-time job was as a teller, working at the Sebring First National Bank. After some time, she was transferred to the Copeland Oaks branch, becoming the first manager at that bank location. She returned to the Sebring location as manager, retiring after twenty-five years from what is now known as Chase Bank.
Over the years and especially during retirement, Ruth and Ed enjoyed traveling and golfing. Although both participated in card clubs, Ruth played Bridge daily when she could. Ruth was witty and loved a good joke or story. She was also stylish, loving to shop and accessorize. More than anything, though, Ruth loved her family - six children, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son, Michael; her parents; and her four siblings, Augusta, Opal, Donald, and Junior, as well as two sons-in-law, William Monbeck and Jay Thomas. She is survived by and will be missed greatly by her children, Karen Monbeck of Stow, Ed (Diane) Braidic of Sebring, Mary Thomas of Stow, Lorie (Mark) Cruse of Cincinnati, and Joe (Diane) Braidic of Pandora. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Sebring on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating.
