Richard Lee Flickinger Sr.

February 29, 1936 — May 8, 2026

Richard Lee Flickinger Sr., a lifelong resident of Ohio, passed away on May 8, 2026, in Beloit, Ohio. Born on February 29, 1936, in Berlin Center, Ohio, Richard's legacy is woven with devotion, skill, and a zest for life, remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Richard retired as a machinist from EW Bliss in Salem. Beyond his career, he was a member of the Damascus Methodist Church, a reflection of his enduring faith and commitment to his community.

An avid enthusiast of drag racing, Richard was deeply involved as both a participant and supporter. His passion extended to being a member of the former Oiler's Car Club and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). His love for sporty pursuits did not end there; he also enjoyed bowling, golf, boating, and water skiing, activities that brought him joy and camaraderie throughout his life.

Richard's proudest accomplishment was, without question, his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Buttermore) Flickinger, whom he married on October 6, 1957. Together, they built a life of love and shared memories. They have three children: Rick (Tonya) Flickinger, Deb (Tim) Cosma, and Terry (Patti) Flickinger. The family's blessings continue with three grandchildren, Derek (Vicky) Cosma, Tyler (Geri) Cosma, Logan Flickinger, and one step-grandchild, Kerry Hartshorn. The next generation of great-grandchildren includes Ellie and Rylie Cosma, along with one step-great-grandchild, Devon Hartshorn. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond W. and Mary (Halczak) Flickinger.
