Ray Metzgar, 66, of Salem, was born on July 1, 1958, in Salem, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Youngstown, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to family, friends, and country.

Ray proudly served his nation as an honorably discharged veteran. He was a member of the Salem AMVETS Honor Guard, where he embodied the spirit of service and commitment to his comrades and community. His military experience fostered a deep respect for duty and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life.

An individual of numerous interests, Ray found joy in reading and had a particular passion for motorcycles. His curiosity about science shaped his vibrant discussions and explorations. Yet, above all, Ray cherished the time he spent with his beloved family and friends, who were the focal point of his life.

He is survived by his son Zachariah Metzgar of Salem; his daughter Sara (Kevin) Parrish of Lisbon; his son Jeremiah (Amanda) Metzgar of Aliquippa, PA; and his son Isaiah Metzgar of Salem. Ray was also a proud grandfather to Lacie Parrish. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlee Metzgar, whom he married on January 17, 1985. Their union was filled with love and partnership until her passing on April 16, 2019. Together, they created a nurturing home and strong family bonds that will endure through the generations.
