Pearl Marlene Kaufman peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was born December 24, 1943 in Dayton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Alvie and Lucetta (Brocious) Troup.
She was a graduate of Dayton Joint High School, Allegheny Wesleyan College (B.A.) and Hagerstown Junior College, (A.A. in Nursing), and practiced as a registered nurse for a number of years. She married the love of her life, Dr. Paul L. Kaufman, March 22, 1965 and was his faithful, loving companion for almost 58 years as a parsonage queen and home maker.
As a beloved mother and wife she has touched many lives all over the country. She was admired as a homemaker, academy supervisor, song leader and children's worker. Her cooking skills were well known; her love of people and her genuiness was sincere and easy to recognize. And that is why she was so well loved. As one person remembers: "Your wife was such a wonderfully sweet lady in the purest way." In recent weeks, hundreds have commented on her classy, yet loving ability to influence their lives toward her Lord. She always reached out to the little, seemingly unimportant people; she had a way of making people feel significant and loved. In her quiet manner, she reflected the love of Jesus to a hurting world. What people loved about Pearl was the quality that she manifested of being genuine. She was accepting of everyone and was very understanding of needy people.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Paul Kaufman, daughters, Lorilee Howe and Louisa (Keith) Thomas and one beloved granddaughter, Mackenzie Rose. She has one surviving brother, Paul (Carol) Troup and was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Herbert Troup, Alvie Troup, Jr., Elwood Troup, Raymond Troup, DuWayne Troup, Donald Troup, Gary (Kathie) Troup and sisters, Katherine Arble, Velma Miller, and Thelma Keeling. Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews.
