Paul Allen Getty

Paul Allen Getty, 90, of Canton and formerly of Sebring passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Paul was born on January 19, 1932 in Boston, MA. to the late Frank and Louise Getty. Paul was a member of Damascus Methodist Church. Paul had his Doctorate Degree and practiced as a General Surgeon. He was a missionary and served in Liberia where he specialized in hand surgery for Leprosy patients. After he served in Liberia he returned to Kingwood, WV where he opened his own practice.

Paul is survived by his wife Yvonne (Ewing) Getty; children Steven Getty and Ann Getty; step-children Leslie (Cathy) Weatherspoon, Larry (Cindy) Weatherspoon, Lonny (Marilyn) Weatherspoon, Lane (Brenda) Weatherspoon, Lisa (Marcus) Letonek and Lyle Weatherspoon; and grandchildren Stefany and Alex Getty and a special granddaughter Elissa Letonek. Besides his parents Paul was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Getty; a daughter Mary Louise and two sisters Mary Hamilton and Evangeline Yeager.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor John Fitch officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring.
