Miriam Evangeline Hendershott, a cherished member of her community and devoted family matriarch, passed away on May 8, 2026. Born in Deerfield, Ohio, on July 5, 1927, Miriam led a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep sense of commitment to those around her.
Miriam proudly served as the Executive Secretary at MPI Labels before retiring, a role in which she demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and unwavering professionalism. Beyond her career, she devoted many years to her passion for music. A piano teacher to countless children and adults, alike, spanning over 50 years, and served for decades as the organist at Lexington United Methodist and Bolton United Methodist Church, enriching the worship experience for the congregations with her talent and heartfelt dedication.
Her community involvement was broad and impactful. Miriam contributed significantly as Secretary of the Sebring/West Branch Community Foundation and served as a board member of the Alliance Red Cross. Her leadership and volunteer efforts helped shape and strengthen her local community in numerous meaningful ways.
Miriam's legacy lives on in her beloved family. She is survived by her son Daniel Hendershott and his wife Jill, daughters Diana Hendershott and Denise Hendershott, along with four grandchildren: Meredith Hendershott, Rachael Hendershott, Tyler Hendershott with his wife Abbey, and Danielle Hendershott Holliday with her husband Danny. Her great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy, include Cameron, Conner, and Chase Brutkiewicz, Penelope and Ophelia Hendershott, and Ainsley and Bexley Holliday. Miriam is also survived by her brother Leland Van Camp and her niece Leanne Van Camp. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hendershott, her parents, Allen and Verda (Libis) Van Camp, her siblings Arland and Ramona Van Camp, and her niece Barbara Van Camp.
The family will honor Miriam's memory with a viewing held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home, Sebring Chapel located at 126 W Vermont Ave in Sebring, Ohio. A funeral service will follow on Friday, May 15, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM. Grave site service will be private for family only. will be private.
