Michael H. Hamon, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Boardman, Ohio after a short illness. Born on May 20, 1953, in Alliance, Ohio, Michael lived a life marked by commitment, service, and a love for the outdoors.
Michael was a 1971 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School, where he was not only an athlete on the football field but also formed lasting friendships that enriched his life. He spent just shy of four decades at T&W Forge in Alliance, Ohio, serving as a heater and hot inspector. His work ethic and dedication were hallmarks of his career. Alongside his primary career, Michael was an Advanced EMT, contributing his time and skills to several area ambulance services part-time.
After retiring from T&W Forge, Michael continued to serve his community by working for the City of Wilson, North Carolina, from June 2013 until June 2019, when he embraced retirement once again. Throughout his life, Michael enjoyed immersing himself in history, spending time outdoors, watching the skies, and indulging his passion for motorcycles. However the biggest joy in his life were his children and grandchildren.
Michael's legacy extends deeply into his beloved family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Coleen (Griffith) Hamon, whom he married on December 5, 1981. Together, they built a strong family. He was a proud father to his sons Eric Hamon of Sebring and Todd (Crystal) Hamon of Cuyahoga Falls, as well as to his daughter Lindsay (Josh) Richards, also of Cuyahoga Falls. Michael was a doting grandfather to five grandchildren: Carly Schneiders, Chloe Schneiders, Madison Richards, Aiden Richards, and Mason Richards, all of Cuyahoga Falls.
He was also the brother of Jeff (Chris) Hamon of Mineral Ridge and Tracy (Curtis) Young of Apopka, Florida, and the proud uncle to five nieces-Amanda (Paul) Hassett, Trisha (Gary) Colbart, Kira (Justin) Carlisle, Kayla Young, and Nora Hamon-and six nephews-Luke Palmer, Jeffrey Hamon Jr., Slade Young, Callan Hassett, Liam Colbart and Brandon Colbart. Michael's companions in life included his beloved cat, Cassie, and dog, Cache, who brought him much joy and comfort.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Margaret Hamon and Earl and Essie Mankin; his parents, Harvey and Joyce (Mankin) Hamon; his parents-in-law, Wayne and Marie (Crewson) Griffith; and his granddaughter, Courtney Hamon.
A viewing to honor Michael's life will be held on April 15, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, located at 126 W Vermont Ave, Sebring, Ohio. Following the viewing, a funeral service will take place at the same location at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Ryser officiating. Burial will take place at Sebring Grandview Cemetery.
