It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Melissa Dawn Hooper, 55, of Alliance, Ohio, who left her family and friends far too soon on June 10, 2026.
Born on February 16, 1971, Melissa lived a life defined by resilience and devotion to the people she loved. She was the kind of person who rarely sat still. Whether she was working, tending to her yard, tackling a repair project, or helping someone in need, Melissa approached life with determination and a willingness to do whatever needed to be done. If something was broken, she would find a way to fix it herself. If someone needed help, she would be there.
Throughout her life, Melissa naturally stepped into the role of caregiver. She spent countless hours looking after family, and offering comfort in her own way to those facing difficult times. Even while managing her own health challenges, she continued to put others first, showing a quiet strength and selflessness that was a reflection of the loving person she was.
Melissa was never afraid of hard work. She could often be found tending to her yard, tackling projects around the house, or figuring out how to fix something on her own. She faced life's challenges with strength and determination, yet managed to keep her playful spirit and goofy sense of humor intact.
Of all the roles Melissa cherished, being a grandmother - affectionately known as "MeeMoo" - was her greatest joy. She absolutely adored her grandsons, Luca and Theo, and loved every moment spent with them. Whether she was playing games, spoiling them with toys and treats, or simply being a kid right alongside them, her love for her grandbabies was endless and unmistakable. The time they had to bond was cut far too short but will always remain a lasting gift to those who loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Bryan Hooper; her children, Brandon (Celeste) Newell and Taylor Mannion; her cherished grandsons, Luca and Theo Mannion; her siblings, Kimberly Marshall and Kevin (Tracy) Marshall; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Wayne Marshall and Millicent Kay Marshall.
Though her time with us was far too short, the love, strength, and sympathy Melissa shared throughout her life will never be forgotten.
Per her request no services will be held at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Sebring Chapel, (330) 928-2526, www.grfuneralhome.com.
