Lorilee Howe

Lorilee Elizabeth Howe passed away in her home on March 8, 2025, at the age of 56. Lorilee was born on October 9, 1968, in Wichita, Kansas. As the first of two children, she grew up in a pastor's home. She followed her mother's love of medicine and graduated with a BSN in nursing from Malone College (University) in 1990. She specialized in medical trauma and served as the supervisor of ER at Massillon City Hospital, and later at the NICU at Akron Children's Hospital.

During her formative years she studied piano while a student at the Truth Academy in Hagerstown, MD and when her family moved to Salem, OH, she graduated from the New Franklin Christian Academy in 1985. During several of those years, she assisted in the Robertsville Wesleyan Methodist Churches as pianist and organist. She loved children and seemed to have a cluster of little ones around her wherever she went.

Lorilee was a kind and compassionate person, always ready to help anyone in need. Often, she volunteered to help some elderly person in their last days-even to the point of riding with them to the hospice center where she was with them until their death. She was with her grandfather at the nursing home when he died in the early morning hours at the age of 92.

She is survived by her father, Dr. Paul Kaufman, a sister, Dr. Louisa Thomas (husband, Keith Thomas), a niece, Mackenzie Rose Thomas, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Kaufman.

Family will receive friends at the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, and the service commemorating her life will follow at 11:00, with Rev. Stanley Grabill officiating.
