Lloyd "Bud" Cobbs

Lloyd "Bud" Cobbs, a cherished member of the Sebring community, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on June 27, 1928, in Sebring, Ohio, he dedicated a significant portion of his life to both his family and his career, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Bud's professional journey began at Babcock & Wilcox Tube Plant, where he worked for 37 years, ultimately serving as Traffic Manager for the last 32 years of his tenure. His commitment to excellence extended beyond just his job; Bud was an exemplary model of service, having proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 24th Infantry Division in Korea.

An alumnus of Sebring McKinley High School, from which he graduated in 1946, Bud also furthered his education by attending the Chicago Advanced Traffic School from 1954 to 1956. His thirst for knowledge and self-improvement was evident throughout his life.

Outside of his professional life, Bud was deeply involved in various community organizations. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6730 and the Alliance B.P.O. Elks 467, where he was honored as Elk of the Year in 2002. Additionally, he was a member of the Christopher Columbus Lodge in Alliance, Ohio. Bud's contributions to the community included long-term service on the Planning and Zoning Committee in Sebring for 20 years and being part of the Civil Service Committee for eight years. Furthermore, his dedication to local sports was highlighted by his numerous accolades in bowling, as he was inducted into the Alliance Bowling Hall of Fame in 2001 and held records in various events for the Alliance City Bowling Tour. He was also inducted into the Sebring High School Hall of Fame in 2010, a testament to his enduring legacy.

Bud found joy in hobbies such as bowling and golf, spending countless hours engaging in these activities with his granddaughter and dear friends, affectionately known as the "Old Coots." Family was central to his life; he cherished time spent with his loved ones, creating special memories with his granddaughter Madison along with other family members.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Sabatine), whom he married on November 18, 1960; daughter, Lori A. Gasparik; granddaughter, Madison Ann Gasparik; grandson, John (Jessica) Gasparik; and great-grandson, L.J. Bud's memory will be held dear by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd P. and Eleanor (Smailes) Cobbs; his daughter, Susan Lynn Cobbs; sister, Sally Larkins; and brother-in-law, James Larkins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, May 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and the 1/2 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Alliance Elks Lodge 467 will provide a service at 6:00 PM on Thursday. Interment will take place at Sebring Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Salem AMVETS. Bud Cobbs will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose legacy of love, service, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of many.
