Millicent Kay Marshall, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and member of the Alliance community, passed away on January 16, 2026. Born on March 6, 1939, in Zanesville, Ohio, Kay was a proud graduate of Minerva High School.
For many years, Kay and her late husband, Donald Marshall, operated the cherished establishment known as Don and Kay's Sportsman Grill in Alliance for 19 years. This venture not only showcased their entrepreneurial spirit but also became a gathering place for friends and families, reflecting the warmth and hospitality that Kay embodied throughout her life.
Family held a central place in Kay's heart. She was devoted to maintaining connections with her loved ones, often keeping track of them through in-person visits or using her iPad. Her joy and happiness were amplified by the time spent with her children: daughter Kimberly Marshall of Sebring, and son Kevin (Tracy) Marshall of East Rochester and daughter Melissa (Bryan) Hooper of Alliance. Kay experienced great joy through her four grandchildren- Taylor (Dominic), Brandon (Fiancé Celeste), Levi (Maddie), and Lacy (Quade)-as well as her three great-grandchildren, Theo, Luca, and Sienna.
Kay enjoyed attending the Alliance First Church of God, where she actively engaged with her faith and community. As a person who enjoyed games and puzzles, she dedicated time to keeping her mind sharp, finding pleasure in life's simple joys.
She is survived by her loving family: brothers Claude (Jan) Ferguson and Terry (Donna) Ferguson, as well as sisters-in-law Darlene and Pat. Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald, who passed on June 23, 2019; her parents, Claude and Amy (VanAllen) Ferguson; brothers Mike, Ted, Bob, Jerry, Red, and Jim; and sisters Diane, Betty, Jackie as well as her great-granddaughter, Aria. Millicent's legacy of love, kindness, and commitment to family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A private memorial service will be held.
