Joy Lee Jurina

Mar 19, 1945 — Aug 26, 2026

Joy Lee Hendricks Jurina, affectionately known to everyone as "Gram," passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter by her side on August 26, 2026, at the age of 81 in Salem, Ohio. Born on March 19, 1945, in Salem, Joy was the beloved daughter of the late Rose E. (Milliken) Hendricks Hughes and Edward S. Hendricks.

Joy was a dedicated and hard worker throughout her life, building a long career at both Sebring Container and Valley Container until her well-deserved retirement in 2008. Beyond her career, Joy's true passion was people. She possessed a vibrant, welcoming spirit and truly never met a stranger. Whether catching up with loved ones over long phone calls, sightseeing local history, or quietly watching the birds in her yard, Joy found deep delight in the world around her. She was a formidable card player, an avid fan of TV game shows, and someone who held an enduring, profound love for all kids/babies.

Joy was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Jurina McCaskey, and her siblings, Ethel Dinsio, Carl Hendricks, Paul Hendricks, Evelyn DeRoads, and Ruth Rowlands.

She is survived by her loving children, David Jurina (Annette) and Connie Oberster (Ken); her sister, Beverly Beachler; five grandchildren, Anthony, Tessie, Brandi, Michelle, and Kevin; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought endless joy and light to her life.
