Joseph George Keil, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Boardman, Ohio, on August 15, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on June 14, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Joseph Keil and Marie (Glaser), both of whom preceded him in death.
Joseph's journey through life was marked by devotion to his family and a steadfast spirit that touched all who knew him. He found his greatest joy in the company of his family, building a legacy rooted in love, togetherness, and the enduring values he exemplified every day. He was very proud of his military service. He served as a Green Beret in the US Army. Joseph retired as a District Manager of Hill's Department Store. In his free time he enjoyed spending time on the water. After retirement he did a lot of traveling with his wife. In his earlier days he loved hunting and fishing, playing horseshoes and shooting pool. Joe enjoyed playing the lottery (especially scratch-offs) and always looked forward to his shot and a beer at 5pm everyday.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Keil, Gary (Bridget) Keil, and Joe (Amy) Keil; his treasured grandchildren, Cherish, Dustin, Katy, Joe Jr., Kelly, Nikolaus, Max, and Aiden; and his adored great-grandchildren, Sophia, Mila, and Dustin Joseph. Each member of the Keil family carries forward Joseph's legacy through their shared memories and the lasting lessons he imparted. Besides his parents Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Keil, with whom he shared many years of companionship, mutual support, and devotion to their growing family. Their life together was a model of love and commitment, one that continues to inspire their children and grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Ann.
