John W. Phillips

Jan 24, 1947 — Jun 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John W. Phillips, who left us peacefully on June 28, 2026. Born on January 24, 1947, John lived a full life, marked by his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family. A proud veteran of the Army, John served his country with honor and integrity, a testament to his character. As a faithful attendee of the South Union Chapel, he enjoyed singing, especially traditional gospel hymns.

John is survived by his beloved daughter Michelle (David) Pugsley, and his two sons-Kevin (Jennifer) Phillips and Tom (Lori) Phillips. He was a proud grandfather to Maslyn, Michael, and Owen Phillips. He is also survived by his sister Phoebe and brother Paul. His family always brought a sparkle to his eye. John was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Phillips, and parents, Robert and Ethel Phillips, as well as his brothers, James, George and Weston Phillips.

Family and friends will gather for John's Celebration of Life that will take place in the near future. Details about the date and location of the service will be shared soon, and we invite all who knew John to join us in honoring him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to a charity of your choice, in John's honor, as he believed in giving back to the community. John W. Phillips may have left this world, but his spirit will live on in our hearts and memories. "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." Berthold Auerbach
