Jacob Maendel, 87, beloved Father, was called to his eternal resting place on August 12, 2018. He entered this world on April 8, 1931 in Canada, born to Jacob and Rachel Maendel. Jacob was a carpenter, farmer, greenhouse grower and all around handyman. He was a high energetic Christian, father and friend to many. Jacob was a lover of nature and wildlife. He had a heart of giving to ministries both domestic and abroad and to individuals in need. He always had a story to tell about sharing his experiences in life.
Jacob is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Waldner) Maendel; children Sam (Annie Randle) Maendel, Thelma (Phillip) Norcom, Bruce (Mary Kramer) Maendel, Matthew (Beth Markley) Maendel, Ephraim (Marilyn Waldner) Maendel, Elias Maendel, Rachel (Paul) Hofer, Heidi (Scott) Miller, Joshua Maendel, Jerry (Katie Waldner) Maendel, Susanne Maendel (Larry) Lallo and David Maendel. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Adina (John) Fros, Josh (Elsa) Maendel, Dan Maendel, Rachel Maendel, Sara Hofer and many many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents Jacob was preceded in death by brothers Hardy, Dave and Anna Maendel, Mike and Anna, sister-in-law Anna, sisters Lizzy and Hansuli Boller, Katie and Andrew Hofer and brother-in-law Joe Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Wellspring Bible Church, 2500 W. State St. Alliance, Ohio 44601 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joe Hofer. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park, Alliance, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home. Friends may sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.
