Herbert Clifton "Cork" Eckert Jr., born June 23, 1944, in Ravenna, Ohio, passed away on July 1, 2026, in Boardman, Ohio. Herbert was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, renowned for his vibrant presence, and unforgettable personality.
Throughout his life, Herbert-known fondly as "Cork" to many-was defined by his devotion to family, his strong friendships, and his love for connecting with people from all walks of life. The son of the late Herbert and Margaret Eckert, Herbert grew up surrounded by siblings who played an integral role in shaping the man he would become. He was preceded in death by his brother Eddie, sisters Juanita and Ruth Ann, Mary and brother Bobby. Herbert's brother, Harry Eckert, and his brother-in-law, Butch Miller, survive him.
Cork's career spanned the worlds of sales and music promotion, arenas in which his engaging nature and ability to make lasting impressions shone brightly. His infectious enthusiasm left a mark on colleagues and clients alike. In his leisure time, Herbert cultivated a variety of interests. Passionate about motorcycles, he found joy and freedom on the open road. He relished quality time with his grandchildren and family, treasuring the laughter and stories they shared. Herbert was a true friend to many, known for making everyone he encountered feel uniquely remembered and valued.
An avid sports enthusiast, Herbert consistently followed Cleveland's beloved Browns and looked forward each year to watching the Kentucky Derby, both passions that brought him excitement and camaraderie with fellow fans.
Cork is survived by his son Robert "RB" (Amy) Eckert, and his grandchildren Austin, Brooke, Sebrina, Jonathan, Maya, Matt and 10 great grandchildren. Also mourning his passing are his brother Harry Eckert, brother-in-law Butch Miller, and a host of dear friends whose lives he touched with sincerity and good humor.
