Gloria J. Kurena

Gloria J. Kurena, a Sebring resident and formerly of Beloit, was the owner operator of Gloria's High Wave Beauty Salon, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Sebring, Ohio, at the age of 94. Born on February 17, 1932, in Salem, Ohio, Gloria dedicated her life to her family and her passion for beauty and service.

A proud graduate of Goshen High School, class of 1950, Gloria built a successful career in the beauty industry, where she was known not only for her skill but also for the warmth and kindness she extended to all her clients.

Gloria was also a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ, where she found both solace and purpose, fostering connections with her church family throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving children: daughter Gayla (Dennis) Wutrick, sons Bryan (Bette) Kurena and Troy (Dana) Kurena, and daughter-in-law Cindy Kurena. Gloria's legacy continues through her large family, which includes nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, along with her sister in law Judy Wyss as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will always carry her memory in their hearts.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Kurena, who passed away on January 8, 2008, and her son, Scott J. Kurena, who departing the world on November 24, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Freda (Owen) Wyss, three sisters: Janice (Donald) Lane, Darylene (Jerry) McLaughlin, and Bonnie Smith, and two brothers, Roger Wyss and Dave Wyss. The family remembers with love a great-great-grandson, Urban Lacerte, who also left this world too soon.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home, Sebring Chapel at 4:00 PM with Rev. Sandra Hutchinson officiating. A time of visitation will be held the hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit,Ohio.
