Gary Blake, of Beloit a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on September 29, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 80. Born on May 18, 1945, in Alliance, Ohio, Gary led a life filled with love, pride, and a commitment to service.
As a respected Tool and Die Maker at Tru Cut Inc. in Ohio and later at Electrolux in Tennessee, Gary demonstrated craftsmanship and diligence throughout his career. He took great pride in his work, skills that paralleled his dedication to his military service in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he served as an airplane mechanic. He was especially proud of his contributions to aircraft maintenance, reflecting his commitment to both his country and his community.
Gary's life was enriched by his active involvement in various organizations. He was a proud member of the Sebring American Legion, Salem AMVETS, and Salem VFW, where he fostered connections with fellow veterans and community members alike.
Outside of his professional and military life, Gary had a passion for many hobbies, particularly his love for cars, especially old ones, along with camping, building and flying RC airplanes and spending time in the outdoors. His interests brought joy not just to him but also to the family and friends who shared those moments with him.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Kay (Snyder) Blake, whom he married on December 9, 1967. Their partnership was a cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind two daughters, Cori (Jeff) Sands and Christy (Bob) Compton, and a legacy that extends to six grandchildren: Dean Blake, Amber Jones, Norresha Compton, Jessica (Zach) Ruggles, Shayna (Zach Milat) Sands, and Bobbie (Ethan Oswald) Compton. Gary was also a proud grandfather to ten great-grandchildren: Addilyn, Alonnah, Audriauna, Ariah, Londynn, Jeremy, Hazel, Evelyn, Luna, and Lillian. His family was always his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is also survived by his brother, David (Marge) Blake. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gyles Blake and Roxie (Gump) Blake.
A viewing will be held on October 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tom Sawyer, at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, located at 126 W Vermont Ave, Sebring, OH 44672.
