Gage Brennan Brooks

Mar 30, 2011 — Jun 28, 2026

Salem, Ohio

Gage Brennan Brooks, whose radiant spirit touched everyone blessed to know him, left this world far too soon on June 28, 2026, in Ashtabula, Ohio, at just fifteen years old. Born on March 30, 2011, in Youngstown, Ohio, Gage's life, though brief, was woven with threads of love, kinship, and the laughter that echoed in the hearts of his family and friends.

From his first days, Gage brought sunshine to those around him-a gentle, inquisitive boy whose big heart grew all the richer in the embrace of his family. He was the beloved son of Erik and Jessica (Brooks) Ault, who cherished every moment of his presence and encouraged him to pursue life's wonders. Gage was an incoming sophomore at Salem High School, where he participated in football and track. He also enjoyed playing video games, fishing and spending time with his friends. He especially enjoyed the friendship of anyone who loved the Wizard of Oz his favorite movie.

Gage's connections flourished in his extended family, surrounded by an unwavering circle of love. His grandparents, Lori Brooks, E. Thomas Ault, Angela F. Travis, and Roberta Peoples, each poured wisdom and affection into his life, creating a foundation of comfort and unwavering support. Gage's memory now embraces the company of his grandfather, Scott Brooks, and his cousin, Tenley Grace, who preceded him in death and who, it is tenderly hoped, welcomed him with loving arms.

Among Gage's siblings, he found joy and camaraderie. His brother, Ethan C. Ault, and sisters, Mackenzie N. (Nicole) Collins and Lirah Brooks, shared in the secrets and silliness of youth, constructing memories that remain etched in their hearts-a bond whose strength endures even in absence.

Extended family offered Gage the gifts of guidance and playfulness. His aunt, Ashley Essick, and uncles, Andrew Essick, Aaron A. Ault, Garry Peoples, provided encouragement and warmth, while his cousins Bailey, Blakely, and Maverick brought even more to his childhood marked by shared adventures and laughter. He is also survived by special aunts, uncles and cousins.

Every moment with Gage-be it in a gentle smile, a quick-witted remark, or a hand extended in kindness-became a part of a mosaic that defined his life's meaning. Those who were close to Gage remember not just a son or a brother or a grandson, but a cherished friend.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and reflection at the First Methodist Church of Salem, located at 244 S Broadway Ave, Salem, Ohio. A gathering will be held on July 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., where all who knew and loved Gage may honor his memory and celebrate the indelible mark he leaves behind. The family asks that attendees wear red (it was his favorite color).
