Donald Leroy Welton, a dedicated and hardworking individual known for his commitment both to his profession and his community, passed away on April 12, 2026, in Poland, Ohio. Born on October 5, 1941, in North Lima, Ohio, Donald's life was marked by his steadfast work ethic and generous spirit.
Donald made his career as a self-employed scrap hauler, contributing significantly through his work with the Aerolight Company. His occupation did not merely define him by the tasks he performed but also by the integrity and dedication he brought to his work every day. Beyond his professional endeavors, Donald devoted over twelve years of his life to serving others through his involvement with the Crossroads Prison Ministry. This commitment reflected his deep compassion and a desire to provide hope and support to those seeking redemption and change.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donald E. and Eleanor R. (Coppersmith) Welton. Their legacy and values undoubtedly shaped the man he became. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Montgomery) Welton, whom he married on May 5, 1979. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, standing as a pillar of strength and comfort throughout his life. He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mark & Sarah (Welton) Spiker, 3 grandsons, Caleb, Eli & Blake Spiker of Salem Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, June Beck and a brother Robert Welton. In his final years, he served His Lord Jesus Christ through the Evangelism Outreach of Solid Rock Community Church in Salem Ohio.
Donald Leroy Welton will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, both professionally and personally, and for the kindness and commitment he showed to his family, friends, and community. His life leaves an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire all who valued his presence.
