Dr. Richard L. Fawcett

Dr. Richard Lee Fawcett, Sr, 77, beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on April 23, 2025. Born on February 27, 1948 in Salem, OH, he was a graduate of Salem High School, attended college at the College of Wooster, medical school at Case Western Reserve, and his residency at Akron General, after which he returned to live in Salem.

Dick was a founding physician of Salem Family Practice and served his community with a compassionate devotion to care and his patients for decades. Dick loved all things Cleveland sports and Ohio State football. He loved his model trains, taking care of his beloved dogs, and spending time with his grandchildren. Dick also loved performing and spent many hours, both on stage and behind the scenes, with the Salem Community Theater and Stage Left Players. He had an other-worldly love for the Christmas season, always beautifully decorating his home with multiple Christmas trees and a vintage sleigh on the roof. He could often be seen coming and going from his home dressed as Santa Clause, volunteering at the First Presbyterian Church of Salem pre-school.

He is survived by his wife Katherine Fawcett; son Richard Fawcett Jr. (Meghan Fawcett); son Timothy Fawcett; daughter Jennifer Geissler; son Jonathan Fawcett; step-daughter Anna Sturgeon (Dan Costie); step-son Benjamin Sturgeon (Kara Sturgeon); granddaughters Rebecca Geissler; Lorelai Geissler; Lillian Fawcett; Adalee Sturgeon; Fiona Costie; Eliza Costie and grandson Carson Sturgeon.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28 at Brown Funeral Home in Salem Ohio. Calling hours will be 11-1:00 with the service held immediately following. Burial will take place at Salem Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Angels for Animals or the Salem Community Theater.
