Dawn Rae Mellott, a cherished wife, mother, nan, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Washingtonville, Ohio, surrounded by her family. Born on November 28, 1953, in Salem, Ohio, Dawn lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and love.
A graduate of Timken Vocational School, Dawn applied her skills and passion in the culinary arts, working as a cook and caterer and contributing to the family business. She was widely known as the official announcer at Buckeye Dirt Draggers, where her voice became an integral part of the event's fabric. Her macaroni and cheese remains a fond memory among those who knew her well, a testament to her love for crafting nourishing meals that brought people together.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dawn was a devoted helper to all-always ready to lend a hand, support her loved ones, and enrich the lives of those around her. Her interests extended to sewing and camping, activities she treasured and shared with friends and family, creating lasting memories through these simple yet meaningful pleasures. She was a member of the Washingtonville VFW Auxiliary, and Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Richard C. Mellott, to whom she was married on November 17, 1984. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their three children: Eric Mroczkowski and his wife Jennifer, Henry Mroczkowski and his fiancée Shannon Bell, and Rhonda Adams and her husband Pat. Her legacy continues through 11 grandchildren-Miranda and her husband John, Shawn, Faith, Kaine (Amber), Ayla, Haleigh (Lou), Tori, Trista, Trenity, Izzy, and Ares-and five great-grandchildren: Parker, Stetson, Raiden, Brinlee, and Willow. Dawn's siblings Darcy Yates, George Arntz, Len "Ann" Scott, Mike Arntz, Steven Arntz, and Sherman Arntz also remain to honor her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald McGaffick, Shirley (DeJane) and Sherman Arntz, as well as two brothers, Byron and Jack Arntz.
Dawn Rae Mellott will be remembered not only for her culinary talents and community involvement but for her generous heart and unwavering support of those she loved.
