Charlcie Irene Shields, a cherished Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend, passed away peacefully, on July 14th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. Born on June 25, 1933, in Erwin, Tennessee. Irene lived a life rich with simple joys, cherished in the laughter around the dinner table and shared beside countless campfires. Grounded by her deep faith and strong family values, she was a dedicated member of the North Benton Presbyterian Church. Irene was known for her skilled hands and creative spirit; she took immense pride in her craft, fettling handles at Royal China, and spent many years in the manufacturing industry, eventually retiring from Coastal Pet. In every endeavor, her talent and love brought quality and care to everything she touched.Irene leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, she is survived by her devoted son Doug, and his wife Debbie Shields, who have been a constant source of love and support throughout her life. And by her special family friend Cindy Wade (Allen), grandchildren Eric Shields (Michelle), Scott Shields (Jasmyne), Alisha Meyer (Eric), Brittany Owens (Aaron) and Chad Shields (Constance). Irene had the privilege of also loving 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren as well as countless nieces and nephews. Her kindness and infectious laughter brought comfort to everyone around her. Whether she was putting on a fresh pot of coffee, whipping up a meal, or joining in on a favorite game, her hospitality was endless, and her home was always a place of welcome and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents William and Mary Peterson, son John Shields Jr, sister Kathleen Silliman, brothers Jay, Gearld, Gene and Jack Peterson.Funeral services to honor Irene's remarkable life will be held Saturday July 25,2026 at 11AM at North Benton Presbyterian Church, 19070 N Benton West Rd., North Benton, OH 44449. Visitation will take place one hour prior from 10AM to 11AM. Family and friends are invited to gather and share stories, celebrate her life and find solace in one another's company. In this time of sorrow, we celebrate Irene's spirit and the memories that will remain in our hearts forever. Her legacy will live on through the lives that she touched, the family she loved, the friends that she made and the spirit of generosity she shared with everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
