Carol Jean Burns, 83, passed away at Crandall Medical Center on Wednesday June 11, 2025, surrounded by her family. Carol was born October 31,1941, to the late Alexander Batyski and Dorthy (Hamilton) Batyski. She was a graduate of Sebring McKinley High School where she met the love of her life Alexander Joel Burns. They were married on November 14, 1958, and spent the next 65 years building a life that would make any family envious.
During High School Carol was a Varsity Cheerleader cheering on her future husband Alex. After High School Carol raised her three children supporting them in all scholastic and athletic events. Carol then worked for the Speakman Insurance Agency and Prudential Insurance before becoming a full-time Realtor working for Tanner Real Estate. She was well known for how she would treat her customers and take a personal interest in their lives.
Carol was a member of the Alliance Women's Club and enjoyed bowling in the College Plaza Women's League. Carol also taught Sunday School at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sebring.
Carol loved her flower garden. She would spend hours each day in the summer tending to and improving her flower garden. She loved to offer advice and guidance to many who were interested in gardening.
Survivors who mourn include her loving Daughter Cheryl L. Drennen (Wayne), Son Mark R. Burns (Tiffany). She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Alex and her first son Brian Scott.
Carol's family is where her true passion came to be. She was always ready to support her family by watching softball, baseball, soccer, football, and basketball games involving her many grandchildren throughout the years. Both Alex and Carol made it a point to support the family whether it be sports or scholastic events.
A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 17th at 1PM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring with Kristine Shoemaker officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday the hour prior to the service from 12pm to 1pm. The burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
