Betty L. (Berger) Meier, 89 of Beloit passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Blossom Nursing and Rehab Center in Salem with family by her side. She was born in Salem, Ohio, on August 3, 1933, to the late Charles and Lucy (Howells) Berger. She attended Coffee Elementary School and was a graduate of Salem High School class of '51. She attended the Coffee Elementary School reunions until recent years.
Betty was a wonderful homemaker always welcoming friends and family for her homemade meals. She was known for her award winning apple and cherry pies. During the summer days she would be found outdoors tending to her garden and beautiful flower baskets. She played bingo several times a week and enjoyed time with friends at monthly card club. Most of all she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children; William J. (JoAnne) Meier, Jr. of Beloit, Ohio, Charles L. (Margaret) Meier of Canfield, Ohio, Pennie L. (David) Kolinski of Hilliard, Ohio, and Dawn Marie (Ryan) Wells of Byron Center, Michigan; five grandchildren; Angela (Brad) Martin, Matthew (Amanda) Meier, Samantha (Donny) White, Jarek Kolinski and Olivia Wells; five great grandchildren; Fletcher Martin, Violet Martin, Jesse Meier, Benjamin Meier and Caleb Meier. She is also survived by a niece Gayla Calderone, and sister in laws Shirley Rank of Deltona, Florida, Ila Meier of Salem, Ohio and Margaret Meier of Cleveland, Ohio. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William J. Meier, Sr. whom she married on October 13, 1951, her sister Dorothy Cameron, brothers in law Jack, Donald, and Robert and sister in law Mary Louise Clay.
The family would like to thank her wonderful team of caregivers that helped over the last two years. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring with Pastor Allen Kahler officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Betty's service will be live streamed and friends and family can send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.
