Bernadette Jane Wilson, fondly known as Bernie, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Canton, Ohio, at the age of 92. Born on January 18, 1934, in Beloit, Ohio, Bernadette led a long and fulfilling life deeply rooted in faith, family, and cherished traditions.
Bernadette was the beloved daughter of the late William and Ida Welsh. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings, Frances, Marie, Ruth, Robert and Bill. Throughout her life, Bernie carried forward the loving legacy of her parents and siblings who preceded her in death.
She was preceded in passing by her dear husband, Thomas Wilson, with whom she shared many years of devoted marriage, building a family grounded in love and resilience. She is also preceded in death by several beloved siblings also went before her, leaving lives intertwined with shared memories and affection.
Bernadette's legacy continues through her surviving family: her daughters, Terri Christy and Crista (Gary) Sigrist; her sons, Thomas (Debra) Wilson, Robert (Loretta) Wilson; and her sister, Frances Mooney. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
A woman of deep faith, Bernadette was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She actively participated in parish life and was part of the Women of Faith. Her involvement reflected her values and instilled a sense of purpose and connection.
Beyond her spiritual commitments, Bernie enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She found creative expression in ceramics, taking pleasure in the process of making and sharing art. Her love for gardening transformed every growing season into a celebration of beauty and growth. These passions were always enhanced by the company of her family, as she treasured the time they spent together above all else.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Bernadette at the visitation on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Sebring Chapel 126 W Vermont Ave, Sebring, OH. A Mass will be held in her honor at 11:00 a.m. the same day at St. Ann Catholic Church, 323 South 15th Street, Sebring, OH, with Father Bob England officiating, where all are welcome to celebrate her life and legacy. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
