Lonnie Weston Sears

Lonnie W. Sears, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, in Aiken, SC, at the age of 76 with his loving wife of 52 years and daughters by his side. Born on June 8, 1947, in Salem, Ohio, to the late Weston and Doris (Dow) Sears, Lonnie's journey through life was one marked by dedication, resilience, and a profound love for his family.

On October 9, 1971, Lonnie married the love of his life, Ruth (Ivan) Sears, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. Their partnership was a testament to mutual respect and unwavering support, with Lonnie always putting his family first. This loving union was blessed with three daughters: Lori Miller, Susan (Stephen) Good Sr., and Julie (Daniel) Lonchena.

Lonnie's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Liam, Madigan, and Finn Miller; Dean and Ivan Lonchena; Vincent (Anna) Williams; Jacob, Christina (Desmond), and Stephen Good Jr.; and Michelle Niggl. His joy was further multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Oliver and Joshua Good, whom he adored. The seeds of kindness, integrity, and generosity that Lonnie planted in his family will grow for generations to come.

A man of many talents and a seasoned businessman, Lonnie also served in the US Army and was the former owner of A & S Casino Tours and Sears County Pride, as well as The Homeworth Pantry. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit also led him to various roles at Quaker City Market, Kuntsman Trucking, IGA in Garrettsville, and Giant Eagle in Newton Falls. Through his professional endeavors, Lonnie gained the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community.

Despite facing a 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Lonnie's courage never wavered. He faced each day with a determination that inspired all who knew him. His resilience was matched only by his compassion, as exemplified by his dedication to Lodge #499 in Homeworth, Ohio. As a Master Mason serving as Worshipful Master in 1993 and being a Shriner, Lonnie's commitment to service and brotherhood was unwavering.

Lonnie's interests and passions extended beyond his work and Masonic duties. His connection to animals, especially his cherished dog Angel, showcased his gentle spirit and nurturing heart. Angel was not only a beloved pet but also a devoted companion who provided comfort and support throughout Lonnie's journey with Parkinson's.

Lonnie's life was a reflection of his values-family, hard work, and service to others. He approached each day with a positive outlook and a readiness to make a difference, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm smile. His presence was a gift to those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will be honored by the many lives he touched. In closing, we honor the remarkable life of Lonnie W. Sears-a man who not only faced his own challenges with grace and bravery but also devoted himself to uplifting others. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown funeral home in Sebring, Ohio. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Masonic Services at 5:00 PM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio.
