Marolyn A. (Barba) Korte

August 30, 1931 ~ July 24, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Marolyn A. Korte, age 85, of Sebring, Ohio passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Community Care Center in Alliance. Marolyn was born in Detroit, MI on August 30, 1931, the only child of the late Eloy and Margaret (Garlitz) Barba. Her education took place at The University of Michigan, the University of Detroit and Wayne State College. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, taught Elementary School in Roseville, Michigan and then retired after 30 years of teaching from the former Beloit Elementary School in the West Branch Local school district.

Marolyn served as a Lector and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Sebring for over 50 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, music, and spending time with her family and friends. She took pleasure in being present at all of her grandchildren's school and athletic activities. She was a resident of the Copeland Oaks retirement community for the past eleven years and attended many concerts and lecture series. She was a active member of the Alliance Area Retired Teacher’s Association and the American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her children; Todd (Sandra) Korte, Glenn (Barbara) Korte, Ann Elise (Ronald) Keene and Kim (Jeffrey) Moore. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Karen Cunningham, Scott Keene. Tyler Keene, Timothy Keene, Michael Korte, Ashley Moore, Alyssa Keene, Brandon Moore, Kaytlyn Korte, Rachael Moore and 4 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Anthony Korte in 1984.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday July 31, 2017 at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in Marolyn’s honor to Alliance Hospice 2461 W State St, Alliance, OH 44601. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio.
