Donald Matticks Obituary

Donald Keith Matticks,Sr, 88 of Lubbock, Texas passed away on May 2, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born in Sebring, Ohio and attended Sebring McKinley HS and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Corporal. He married Patricia Bryan and moved to Lubbock in 1955. Don Matticks played baseball and achieved a bachelors and masters from Texas Tech University. He began a 34-year career with the Lubbock Independent School District , coaching and teaching at Atkins Junior High and completed his tenure at Monterey High School as an Assistant Principal. He was a dedicated educator and a proud Notre Dame fame. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia (Bryan)Matticks of 61 years.

He is survived by sons, Bryan and Christy Matticks, Donny and Carol Matticks; daughters, Michele Matticks, Theresa and Marcus Reed, and Colette and Robert Hall; 13 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church on Friday, May 11, at 11:00 AM with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio (330) 938-2526.
