Viola Mary (Hoopes) Iler

Viola Mary Iler, 92 of Cuyahoga Falls, previously of Sebring, passed away on Saturday July 8, 2017 at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls. She was born on Jun 26, 1925 in Sebring to the late James Wilmer “JW” and Blanche O. (Briggs) Hoopes. After graduating from Sebring High School in 1944, she graduated Canton Actual Business College. Viola worked for JW Hoopes Ice & Coal, H.K. Schaefer Wholesale, 1st National Bank, Consumers National Bank, Mahoning County Community Action Center, and owned restaurants in Alliance and the Salem area.

She accepted Christ in 1967 as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Sebring Church of Christ/Pine Lake Christian Church where she was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. Mrs. Iler served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 77, and loved to travel.

Survivors include her two sons, Kevin (JoAnn - dec.)Iler of North Canton, Kirby (Dari) Iler of Cody WY; five grandchildren, Rachel (Brett) Neff of Green, Jonathan Iler of North Canton, Brittany (Scott) Robinson of Spearfish, SD, Meredith (Arleigh) Nelson of Cody, WY, Jared (Anna) Iler of Missoula, MT; five great-grandchildren Moses Neff, Emmett Neff, Joscelyn Nelson, Elias Nelson and Justus Nelson.  She is also survived by a sister-in-law Jane Hoopes of Sebring.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gerald LeRoy Iler whom she married on September 2, 1947 and preceded her in 1986,  a daughter-in-law JoAnn Iler, two brothers, Floyd J. Hoopes and Wayne B. Hoopes.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Pine Lake Christian Church, 636 Pine Lake Rd. Sebring, OH 44672 with Pastor Tom Palmer officiating. Friends may call from 10-11 AM on Friday morning at the church.  Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park.
