Edward J Balog

Edward “Ed” John Balog age 75, of Salem, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and savior on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. The son of the late Louis and Susan (Banyon) Balog.  Ed was born May 31, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio.  Ed worked for US Steel as an Electrician and as a Greenkeeper at Salem Hills. Edward enjoyed spending his free time golfing and fishing, going to yard sales and working in the yard. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially watching his grandkids Tyler and Hannah at their sporting events.

Ed is survived by his wife Sandra J (Coriston) whom he married on February 6, 1965; a son Leroy “Jeff” Thomas of Salem; three daughters Julie Ann (Tim Thompson) Nelson of Alliance, Angela Marie Shaffer of Boardman and Jennifer L. Justice of Salem; a sister Betty Gill of Austintown; five grandchildren Amber and Michael (Amanda) Nelson, Tyler and Hannah Shaffer and Moriah Justice; two great-grandchildren Hayden and Kaelynn Nelson and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceeded in death by two brothers Louis and Jimmy and three sisters Margaret, Judy and Helen.

A Funeral Service will be held on, March 4, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Pastor Freddie Rodriguez officiating. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service on Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Military Honors will be provided by the Salem Honor Guard. The family asks memorial contributions be made in Ed’s honor to the Alzheimers Foundation Mahoning County Chapter or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
